Hayfever Season and using Local Honey as a remedy

๐Ÿคง๐ŸŒพ๐ŸŒผ Hayfever Season ๐ŸŒพ๐Ÿ‘ƒ๐ŸŒผ
This time of year I get asked a lot about the honey ๐Ÿฏ that I stock from local ๐Ÿ Beekeepers (in the photo)โ€ฆ

๐ŸฏHoney is often used as a remedy for hay fever due to a theory called "local honey immunotherapy."

The idea is that by eating honey produced by bees ๐Ÿ in your local area, you may be exposed to small amounts of the same pollens that trigger your hay fever symptoms.

โณOver time, repeated exposure to these pollens could potentially help desensitise your immune system and reduce your allergic response.

If you decide to try honey for hay fever, it is generally recommended to choose raw, unprocessed honey from local bee keepers rather than processed honey which you find in the supermarkets.

Raw honey retains more of its natural compounds, including pollen. It's believed that the presence of local pollen in raw honey is what may provide potential benefits for hay fever.

Local honey is more likely to contain pollens from the plants and trees that trigger your hay fever symptoms. It's important to note that honey should not be given to children under the age of one.

๐Ÿฅผ๐ŸฉบIt's always best to consult with a healthcare professional for managing your hay fever symptoms.
