Domaine La Perriere Sancerre | Sancerre AC | Loire | France
From Saget La Perriere in Verdigny-en-Sancerre, this estate comprises 43 ha of vineyards, 38 ha of which are Sauvignon Blanc. Soils are predominantly flint and chalk with limestone calliottes commonplace.
50% of the Sauvignon Blanc harvest is hand-harvested and sorted to ensure only the best fruit is used. After pre-fermentation maceration, the wine is vinefied in stainless steel, spending 3-4 weeks on the lees before bottling. This ensures the freshness for which this wine style is famous.
Pale gold in colour, with pronounced aromas of ripe citrus, cut grass and unripe peaches with just a hint of white flowers. The palate is elegant with a combination of minerality and zippiness that makes it a brilliant partner for goats' cheeses or Brie de Meaux. Just fabulous with a long fginish that just keeps on giving!
